Short project summary
The World Economic Forum’s 2023 report on the future of jobs suggests that between now and 2027, businesses predict that 44% of workers’ core skills will be disrupted, because technology is moving faster than companies can design and scale up their training programmes. To counteract this trend, UNITAR suggests a capacity building programme that will focus on the transferable skills needed for the future of work, such as: 1. Negotiation Skills 2. Stakeholder Engagement 3. Leadership and Team Mobilization 4. Cross-Cultural Communication 5. Resilience, flexibility and agility 6. AI and big Data
Main Aim of the proposed project
The overall aim of the Skills for the Future programme is to assist Youth reach their full potential and to stay abreast of technical developments by improving their transferable skills.
Taking a holistic approach to address the needs of the beneficiaries and ensuring a more inclusive society, UNITAR and the partner organisations will work closely with regional centres in order to enable and equip Youth with the necessary technical knowledge and skills for a successful career.
The project will be implemented in especially selected regional training centers, allowing the initiative to target vulnerable neighborhoods. The regional approach furthermore allows the respective training modules to be better tailored to the beneficiaries’ specific needs. Close collaboration with the private sector will enable beneficiaries to gain hands on experience. In addition, participants will gain deeper insights through interactive and practice focused workshops on relevant skills of the future.

The programme will run over the course of three years for three different cohorts (one per year). Each envisioned training component with be taught over two non-consecutive weeks through in person workshops.
